Violet Florene Pierce was born June 18, 1929 in Needville, Texas. She passed away at her home in Cypress, Texas on November 19, 2016. She is the daughter of the late Louie and Mary Gregurek of Bay City, TX. Violet attended Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas where she met her husband, Gary Pierce, of 35 years. She worked at Tallowood Baptist Church for 22 years in child care development until her retirement in 2008.

Violet Florene Pierce was born June 18, 1929 in Needville, Texas. She passed away at her home in Cypress, Texas on November 19, 2016. She is the daughter of the late Louie and Mary Gregurek of Bay City, TX. Violet attended Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas where she met her husband, Gary Pierce, of 35 years. She worked at Tallowood Baptist Church for 22 years in child care development until her retirement in 2008.

Violet is survived by her two children and four grandchildren; her daughter Susan and her husband Pete DiMiceli of Cypress, TX, and their children Sydney and Luke; her son Mark Pierce and his wife Nicole of Austin, TX, and their children Andrew and Lauren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Pierce, and her sister, Dorothy Ray. She is also survived by her sister Liddie Wallace of Nacogdoches, TX; her brother Ed and Betty Gregurek of Hearne, TX; her sister Tootsie Heuerman of Arlington, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Violet was a very proud mother and Mimi to her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to many of their activities. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. Violet found much enjoyment spending countless hours keeping up her meticulous yard and decorating her home, especially at Christmas which was her favorite time of the year.

The family is eternally grateful to Tricia McKinney and her caregivers at Hands to Lend Assisted Living in Cypress, Texas for the compassionately loving care they gave Violet along with the entire staff at Silverado Hospice.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. at 10:00am. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 11:00am. with Rev. Larry Bertrand of Tallowood Baptist Church officiating.
